Training Guidelines

The following information is designed to guide you through the process of training people to be able to offer Sai Maa Diksha.

We do not charge for any part of this program however, you may ask for donations to cover any out of pocket expenses you incur or direct people to the Humanity In Unity website www.humanityinunity.org, to make a donation to further this work. If you wish, you may ask participants to bring a flower to offer during the Ceremony of Thanksgiving. You will need a room large enough to comfortably seat the group, enough chairs for everyone (it is better if people do not sit on the floor) and a small table to use as an altar.

The altar should have a picture of Sai Maa and may have pictures or statues of other members of Sai Maa’s lineage or spiritual teachers who are meaningful to you.  The altar may have a candle and a vase of flowers.  Please use your discretion on how you decorate the altar, depending on the group you are training.

The session should be relaxed and informal.  Please remember, this is not your knowledge, it is your privilege to be able share it with others.

The words in italics are to help you present this wonderful gift. You may memorize these words or use similar words that are more comfortable for you as long as you maintain the essence and intent.

The training should be completed in about one hour but pace yourself so the training doesn’t seem rushed.

Welcome and Introductions

 Thank everyone for being here.

Introduce yourself(s).

Today I will be sharing with you how to offer Sai Maa Diksha a gift that comes to us from the generosity of Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi.  I’ll start by saying what Sai Maa Diksha is and where it comes from, then I’ll demonstrate how you can offer it to others.  As a part of our tradition, I’ll perform a short ceremony of gratitude to Sai Maa and Her lineage, which will activate this Diksha within you.  I’ll then ask you to practice giving Sai Maa Diksha to each other.  There’ll be plenty of time for questions and please feel free to interrupt at any time if something is unclear.

First let me say a few words about Sai Maa (point to picture) who has gifted us this wisdom, out of Her great Love and Compassion for the world.

Sai Maa is a dynamic visionary and Spiritual Master dedicated to Global Enlightenment and to eliminating the pain and suffering of humanity.  Sai Maa has Ashrams in Varanasi, India and Crestone, Colorado but spends much of Her time traveling the world giving lectures and workshops and offering spiritual healing.  Sai Maa has established many humanitarian projects worldwide, providing food, clothing, education and medical care for those in need.  Sai Maa was recently recognized in India as Jagadguru, (Master of the Universe), a true living Saint.

If you are a student of Sai Maa’s, you could say a few words about your relationship and personal experience with Her.

Introduction to Sai Maa Diksha

What is Diksha?
Diksha means initiation or activation and is the physical transference of Divine Energy or Light.  It is a hands-on technique whereby the Giver places his/her hands on the Receiver’s head and allows this Divine Light to flow directly into the brain, which activates the process of Enlightenment.

Because of the distortion of human thought patterns and the stress of today’s lifestyles, people have moved into a state of imbalance and lost sight of their true essence.  With Sai Maa Diksha the brain is brought back into harmony and balance and the mind, heart, emotions and personality are cleansed of impurities.  This transformation allows us to move into higher frequencies and deeper states of meditation, where the power of Love starts to reveal itself.  With Love in the heart we begin to experience Divine Joy.

History
Diksha is not new, many masters, gurus, and saints have offered it for thousands of years but mostly to a select group of students.  Diksha can be given by the Master in many forms including looking at or touching a student or by the student seeing the picture, hearing the name, reading the words, or just hearing the voice of the Master.  All of these different forms open the heart.  Diksha is activated by the energy of the Master and the Master’s spiritual lineage, and is therefore unique to that Master.

Sai Maa has been offering Diksha in many forms for years.  In 2004 Sai Maa decided it was time to make Diksha available to everyone and started training people to offer it in its present format.  The Sai Maa Diksha you are learning today has been activated by the Spiritual Energy of Sai Maa and Her lineage.

Benefits
When you receive Sai Maa Diksha, you may have many different experiences.  You may experience deep peace, a spreading of warmth, or maybe a lightness of being. You may experience a general sense of wellbeing, stillness, or silence.  You may see Divine Light and find an increase in your joy for life or you may not notice much at all.  It is best to remain innocent without expectations knowing that, whatever the experience, the Diksha is bring benefits on many levels.
All of us are born with that great seed of beauty, wisdom, peace and harmony. When you receive Sai Maa Diksha, the Divine Energy evaporates the clouds that veil your true Self. Your potential starts to express itself in joy, abundance and bliss and you empower yourself to reveal the Master that you are.

You can offer Sai Maa Diksha to anyone and as many times as they desire.  However, you must always receive permission to give someone Sai Maa Diksha.  If the recipient is unable to give verbal communication, quietly go within yourself and ask at the level of the Soul.  You can offer Sai Maa Diksha to children, babies in the womb and even your pets!

Diksha Training

2010 Sai Maa Diksha How to Slideshow 350pixDemonstration – request two volunteers to work with you to demonstrate giving and receiving Sai Maa Diksha.  Place a chair where it can be seen by everyone in attendance.  Have a volunteer sit on the chair (this person will be referred to as the Receiver).  The Receiver should sit comfortably in the chair, spine erect. The person giving Sai Maa Diksha (this person will be referred to as the Giver), if necessary, asks the Receiver to move forward or backward on the chair so that the Giver can comfortably stand in front of the Receiver and reach his/her head.  The Receiver’s feet can be apart or together so the Giver stands either between the feet or straddles the legs. Receiver can be told to just remain relaxed and open, allowing the Light to flow easily.  The Giver stands in front of the Receiver and follows your instructions. Say the following to the Giver:

Stand comfortably in front of the Receiver.

Place your hands in front of your chest in prayer position and bow your head slightly in honor of the Receiver and connect with your own Divine Presence. (5 seconds)

Bring your hands to either side of the Receiver's head, a few inches away from the ears, palms upward and silently call upon Sai Maa and her spiritual lineage.(10 seconds)

Hold your hands about an inch above the Receiver's head, palms down, base of the thumbs touching each other. Hold your hands there until you feel the flow of energy or for about 10 seconds. Have the intention of activating the Receiver’s inner healer.

Lower your hands onto the Receiver's head, with the heals of the palms touching the upper forehead of the Receiver and the remainder of the hands and fingers on the top of the Receiver's head.  Important: Your hands should be touching the head but the touch should be light, not putting too much of your weight on the Receiver's head. (2-3 minutes)

Allow the Light to flow into your crown chakra at the top of your head, down to your heart, into your arms and out through your hands.

After 2-3 minutes, gracefully remove your hands by lifting them upward.

Place your hands in front of your chest in prayer position and bow your head slightly, silently thanking the Receiver for giving you the opportunity to offer Sai Maa Diksha.

Take questions and answers about the demonstration.

Activation/Ceremony of Thanksgiving

Stand in front of the altar (optional to hold a flower).

I’ll now perform a short ceremony of gratitude to activate Sai Maa Diksha in each of you.

Ask the participants to stand and join you around the altar or remain at their seats.  Take a moment to briefly name the Masters or deities you have on the altar.

I invite Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi and Her sacred lineage to be with us.  I ask Sai Maa to activate the Sai Maa Diksha energy in each person here today so that we all may become vehicles to offer it unconditionally to all others.  Let us silently offer our gratitude to Sai Maa for bringing us this great gift and also offer gratitude to all the other Masters, Teachers and Beings of Light who guide us in our journey.

All stand in silence for 30 seconds

If there are flowers, place your flower in the altar and invite anyone else to do the same, as a symbol of gratitude.

Ask everyone to be seated again.

Practice Diksha
Note: It is good to have a helper with you in case there are an odd number of people there for the training; the helper can then serve as one of the partners.

Ask everyone to choose a partner; one partner sits while the other stands.  Have everyone start and continue together as you lead the Givers, step by step, through the process of giving Sai Maa Diksha.  Walk around the room and make any necessary corrections or adjustments to the Giver’s hands.  Remind the Givers to be relaxed and just allow the Light to flow through them.
When they have finished, ask the partners to exchange places.  Again, verbally lead the Diksha Givers through the process.
Give the partners a chance to share their experience of giving and receiving Sai Maa Diksha with each other.  Ask the Receivers to give feed back on whether the pressure of the Giver’s hands was comfortable.

Ask everyone to change partners and complete the above process one more time.  Now you just tell them when to begin and end, letting them go at their own speed.  Again walk around the room, making any necessary adjustments.

Sharing, questions, and answers
Invite everyone to share their experiences with the group.
Did they find the experience of giving Diksha as powerful as receiving it?
Mention that we can receive Sai Maa Diksha and any time however, during times when we are feeling physically, mentally or emotionally distressed, it is best not to offer Diksha.

Distance Diksha

Explain that the process is the same except that as Givers we are placing our hands on the imaginary head of the Receiver or, the Giver may simply imagine the Light transferring from his/her heart to Receiver's head.  Distance Diksha can be given at any time or the Giver and Receiver arrange a time that is convenient to both so the Receiver is sitting when the Giver is offering the Sai Maa Diksha from another location.

Last questions and answers

Closing

Tell everyone that the more they offer and receive Sai Maa Diksha the faster the benefits will grow and stabilize within them.  Tell them that it is as powerful to give Sai Maa Diksha as it is to receive it so continue to offer it even if there is no one to return the Diksha.

Mention that there are many tools for increasing the effects of Diksha.  Using pranayama breath work is highly effective. Chanting, dance or movement, sacred mantra, crystal bowls and meditation, also raise the energetic vibration for Diksha.

Invite them to local satsangs, workshops with Sai Maa and Master Teacher events.  Direct them to the Humanity in Unity website for further information.

(Optional:  Ask everyone to form a circle, connect with each other through the heart, project the Light in the heart out into the circle, and maintain this connection while singing or listening to the music of your choice.)
