Distribution of Ration Kits in Calicut,
Kerala for Vishu (Kerala New Year Day)

April 2007

In connection with the Vishu celebration, On behalf of Beloved Sai Maaji, HIU and Sai Maa Foundation, Ration kits ( Rice 10kgs, sugar 2 kgs, dal 1kg, cooking oil 1 packet, vermicelli  cashew nuts and dry grapes) were distributed to 150 families, poorest of the poor, irrespective of Religion and caste.

The program was organized in association with Rishi puram Shiva Temple Samiti, at Rishi Puram Temple compound on the 13th of April 2007.

Rev. Fr. Paul David Thottathil (President, Church Board) was the chief guest.
Malabar Chamber of Commerce president Mr. P. Zakir, inaugurated the program. Brahmachari Shyjan(Swamiji from Mata Amritanandamayi ashram, calicut) inaugurated the Ration distribution program.

Shri. Narayanan Nair, President Rishi Puram Temple Samiti, presided the function, Shri AKB Nair delivered the spiritual discource.

Advocate Chembil Vivekanandan, Dr.K.M.Saraswathy, S.Thulaseedharan Pillai, P.Balakrishnan (Dy.Editor, Mathrubhumi Daily) P.Dharmarajan (Gen.Secretary Rishi puram Temple samiti) extended felicitations.

Shri. K.U.K. Nair (State Co-ordinator, Sai Maa Foundation, HIU) extended vote of thanks.

Financial Aid to Three Families in Calicut, Kerala


On the 5th of April 2007, tragedy happened in Calicut district, Kerala. A craker shop exploded, which led to the burning of almost 100 shops in the lane.

In the incident, 8 people, including three school children died and over 50 people injured.

The estimated damage was about Rs.150000000 ($3.5 milion).

The three students(Master Midun lal, Master Vinnet, Master Rahul) who  lost their lives was working in some shops in this area to earn something for their families during their school vacation.

As a small support for these three families we provided Rs.10001/- ($234) each to the families.

On behalf of Beloved Sai Maaji and HIU- K.U.K. Nair, Shri Bijeesh along with  Worshipful Mayor of Calicut Shri. K.Bhaskaran, Deputy Mayor Prof. Abdul Lateef , visited the houses of three children and handovered the funds.

Another support of Rs.2000 ($47) was extended to the family of Shri.Surendran, who lost his life due to cancer, after much treatment.
