Goal: To inspire and support our global community to participate in an ongoing, sustainable fundraising campaign that will fund the vision of Sai Maa, Humanity in Unity (HIU), and The Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust of alleviating hunger for hundreds of thousands of the most vulnerable in India.
On January 14, 2012 – the Margh Mehla feeding camp, sponsored by the Just One campaign, began in Allahabad, India. A kitchen was constructed and cooks hired just to carry out the food preparation and service for this event. The first feeding occurred on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, the celebration of the harvest. The camp will provide food for pilgrims, families, saints and saduhs every day for three weeks.
On Jan 7, 2012 Humanity In Unity continued its service in the slum areas of Kashi. Over 250 children were served a warm and nutritious meal in the slum area known as Delvaria, located just beside the train tracks. This area is known for its tremendous poverty. Most children did not even have sandals to where during these cold winter months.
Holiday Celebration and Feast Brings Children Together
OM JAI JAI SAI MAA
On December 28th ASMITA and Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust hosted a Christmas and New Years holiday program in their headquarters that brought over 500 slum children from different areas together. The children performed an array of skits, including the manger scene of the birth of Jesus and various dances. In addition we were graced with the presence of students from a school dedicated to serving those with physical and mental disabilities. These children also offered performances full of beauty, strength and JOY.
So many of us around the world have dedicated our lives to the simple yet powerful philosophy that replacing fear and separation with love and unity will create an astounding world.
On New Year's Day, Life Divine is kicking off 2012 with an invitation to join together in action to amplify this message of love and Oneness. We invite you to join us in a one-hour Call for Global Unity.
The call will take place from 10:00-11:00 am MST on New Year's Day.
On December 9th in Punjabi Basti, Varanasi located just behind the Cant railway station, known for its very rough living conditions, members of the Sai Maa Vishnu Shakti Trust came together to feed over 250 children from a local slum area. Field workers from ASMITA and ten nuns-in-training from a local Catholic organization came to prepare the food and help make the puris, flat bread.
