Your Love in Manifestation, in Action

Humanity In Unity's gift to Voix Libres

Humanity In Unity often partners with organizations we feel are in alignment with our values and mission. Voix Libres is an international humanitarian organization, founded in 1993 by Marianne Sébastien, whose overall goal is the education and training of the most underprivileged children in Bolivia living in prisons, streets and garbage dumps. It also aims to eradicate child labor in mines.

Since December 2003, Humanity In Unity has made donations totalling $15,000 to Voix Libres International. We received a letter from their organization telling us of how these donations have served:

"I am writing in the name of Marianne Sebastien who is now going to Bolivia supervising our projects. In the name of Marianne, Voix Libres and all our beneficiaries, I wish to express our deepest gratitude for the immense difference this is going to make to the lives of some 30 orphans.

Thanks to your donation. We have begun to invest in a new girls'dormitory and we look forward to be able to pay the all equipment needed (beds, furniture, linen...) for 25 orphans. At last, the girls shall have a proper and warm bed to sleep in and will no longer have to sleep on beds of rocks, 4'500 meter high under freezing cold temperatures. Already they wear decent clothing, are in good health and will no longer lack food nor water. At last, they can go to school and are given the chance to develop their skills and blossom, receiving the love and tenderness that every child should be entitled to.

Just now, Marianne is going to Bolivia for one month where she controls the process of the building's progress and all politik's results of new quality of life for the children. The work with eradicating chlidren's labour is progressing very quickly, only in January in Potosi, all the children stopped working in the worst conditions into the mines. She looks forward to send you photographies."

In mid-2004, we received an e-mail from Voix Libres updating us on the progression of the work.

"The second photo (above this paragraph) is a women's meeting. The meetings take place every week in the courtyard of the orphanage to inform women about interest-free microloans and support the women who are already benefiting from one of those loans. This is part of our global development project in the area. Thanks to those microloans (US$50 on average), there are able to start a micro business (manufacturing arts/crafts, cards, raising poultry, farming), which is at long last an alternative to their lives of misry and suffering in the mines. More than anything else, it is the tenderness and support of the whole community united in a new spirit which enable them to break free."
